Jenna had been sitting in the office for what felt like hours. Her parents had left her in charge of the beach house for a week while they went on a business trip. She was supposed to be the lifeguard for the beach and monitor the area while they were gone. This was no different than what the 24 year old was used to, since she did the same thing while her parents ran the office, but now she was in charge of everything. Today was her first day so nothing really spectacular had happened, at least so far.
She shut the top to her laptop and stretched back in her chair. As she sat back up, she pushed back from the desk and got up. She had remembered that she needed to check the beach every so often to make sure there weren’t any people there since it was closed. Jenna slid open the screen door and made her way onto the deck. She leaned against the railing while the wind blew her brown and blonde ombre hair. She tucked some behind her ear as her eyes gazed over the beach. She didn’t see anyone and turned to walk away. Then she heard splashing. She turned back to the beach, narrowing her eyes to try and see where it was coming from. It was dark so it made things more difficult to see.
“Hey! The beach is closed! You need to get out!” she hollered out.
The splashing stopped for a moment, but then started back up. She rolled her eyes and went back inside to grab a flashlight. After a moment of digging, she made her way back onto the deck and down the stairs. She turned the flashlight on and started searching the beach. As she was walking, she heard the splashing get louder so she knew she was getting closer. She stopped on the shore and lifted the flashlight to where the sound was coming from.
“Hey!” she shouted, trying to gather the attention of whoever was in the water.
She shone the flashlight, but didn’t see anything. As she held it lower to the water, she noticed a pair of dark brown eyes looking back at her. She placed her hand on her hip, a bit irritated, as she waited for whoever was in the water to come out.
“Hello? You need to get out. The beach is closed.”
She watched as the person moved more out of the water, revealing a very attractive freckle covered male face. His hair was a bit longer and stuck to his face a bit. She noticed the unnatural coloring of his hair, as parts of his brown hair had grey ends. She grew more curious as she waited.
“Hello? Can you hear me?”
A confused expression came onto his face as he cocked his head to the side. It’s like he couldn’t understand her. She grew a bit more puzzled as she hadn’t remembered hearing anyone running into the water.
“How did you get in here anyways?”
He hesitated, like he was figuring her words out. Jenna was about to give up when he turned and pointed to the ocean behind him. So he didn’t run through the beach.
“Hmm, must’ve been a shipwreck,” she mumbled to herself. “Alright. Well, I can’t have you being in the water all night. Get up and I’ll take you inside.”
He looked around first before looking back up to her. She made a “get up” motion with her hands before looking around herself to make sure no one was coming. When she turned back around, she noticed he had gotten up and was standing in the water. Her eyes widened at the sight, as he was standing there completely naked. She covered her eyes as she couldn’t believe the events that were transpiring tonight.
“You did want me to get up right?”
She lifted her hands of her eyes and looked up to him. He had a confused expression on his face as he was awaiting her answer.
He thought about it for a minute and answered, “I think so. I’ve been trying to learn to speak like you do.”
“What do you mean?” She paused for a moment, thinking. “Are you foreign?”
“You could say that.”
She nodded and crossed her arms.
“Alright then. Well, I can’t leave you out here. Follow me and I’ll bring you inside and…cover you up.”
As she started walking, he looked down at himself, as if he hadn’t seen his own body before.
“Are you coming?”
He looked up to see she had given him a very weird look. He nodded and began walking behind her.
“So I’m Jenna by the way. What’s your name?”
“Ronan huh? Well that’s not a name I hear every day.” She turned around to see he was a ways behind her. “First day using your legs?”
Ronan looked up at her and back down to his leg. “…No?”
“Well then hurry up!”
Jenna continued walking until she got to the stairs of the deck. She turned back to see how far he was behind her and noticed that he was still far behind. She shook her head and walked up the stairs.
“He’ll catch up”, she stated to herself as she opened the screen door.
She walked into her parent’s bedroom and opened her dad’s dresser with hopes that she could find some pants for Ronan. As she grabbed a pair of sweatpants from the drawer, she remembered that her dad was a bit of a bigger guy and Ronan…Well he had a bit of a more muscular build, the complete opposite of her dad’s.
“Oh well, it has a drawstring to tighten them up.”
As she walked out of the room, she noticed that he had made his way into the building finally and was looking at the beach merchandise her parent’s sold.
“Hey,” she yelled as she tossed the pants to him. “You can wear these. They might be a little big, but you can tighten them with the string.”
He looked at the pants he was holding, like he still wasn’t sure what he was supposed to be doing with them. When he looked back up to Jenna, she had walked back into her parent’s room, leaving him in the room alone. He unfolded the pants and held them up in front of him. He glanced done at his lower anatomy and back up at the pants. He struggled to put them on, but after a bit, they were on. He continued looking around at all the different merchandise that was in the building and stopped at the shirts. His eyes widened and his face lit up when he saw an aqua blue shirt with a little seal on the front of it. He lifted one up and held it against his naked abdomen. It didn’t look like it would fit so he kept digging through the pile of shirts until he found one that looked like it would fit and put it on. He smiled as he looked at the little seal on his shirt.
“You do know that’s a girl’s shirt right?”
He looked up to see Jenna leaning against the doorway, arms crossed, trying to hold back a snicker. Ronan looked at his shirt and looked to the pile of shirts that he had been digging through.
“Yeah, that’s why it’s tight on you.”
“Oh…I thought it was just like that.” He paused for a moment, still looking at his shirt, and shrugged. “I still like it.”
She shook her head as she began cleaning up the building area. “Fan of seals?”
His eyes didn’t leave his shirt as he smiled. “You could say that.”
